Welcome to the home of all-time great Akita's.

Here we continue with our introduction to the Akita's that have made history and broken records. These are the dogs that  can legitimately lay claim to being the all-time greats in the breed.

On these pages you will find just a few of the dogs that have made the Redwitch kennel the No. 1 Akita kennel in the world. It is here that we pay tribute to these dogs who have excelled in and out of the ring.

We continue our tribute with an Akita that still holds the title of the Top Winning Akita All-Time:

Ch. Nor Ch. Redwitch Dancin' In The Dark

As the Top Winning Akita All-Time, Rave has certainly earned his place in the All-Time Greats pages. Sired by our import Ch. Goshen's Dark  'N Debonaire at Redwitch out of our Top Brood bitch Zee Zee Flash, he was sold as a puppy to Norway where he went on to win top honours as a very young dog. In 1995 we made arrangements to bring him back to the UK and after 6 months quarantine, at his debut show over here he took Dog CC, Best of Breed and Group 1. His second and third CC's followed in consecutive shows, the first Akita ever to achieve this and at his fourth show he was Best of Breed, Group 1 and Best In Show.

Over the next two years his achievements were phenomenal. No. 2 Dog All-Breeds 1997, No. 5 All-Breeds 1998, 6 All Breed Best In Show, 3 All-Breed Reserve Best In Show, 15 Group 1sts, many group placements, 2 Group Best In Shows and 1 Akita National Best In Show.

At Crufts 1999 he reached the pinnacle of his career taking Best of Breed, Group 1 and Reserve Best In Show from over 20,000 dogs. For us, we felt that there was nothing more to achieve, and the decision was made to retire him from the show ring as the Breed Record Holder and a tremendous ambassador for the Akita in the UK.

Although he will be remembered by many as a great show dog, Rave also excelled as a Sire. He was Top Stud Dog in 1998, 1999 and 2000 and was the sire of 5 British Champions and many more overseas.

His legacy will live on for generations. His grandson Ch. Redwitch Feel Free To Stare is the Top Stud Dog All Time and his granddaughter Ch Redwitch Stare If You Dare is still the Bitch Breed Record Holder with 29 CC's.

But for us, he epitomized everything that was Akita. He was gentleman and our friend and he's still very much missed today.
